Look, pretending that this thing in retrospect has the same cultural impact as Jaws is ridiculous and no one who pretends it has or will should be taken seriously. Still…everything doesn’t need to be important. The Meg knows what it is and it does that well, managing to strike the perfect balance between the self-importance of Jaws and the self-deprecation of Sharknado.
