Not particularly deftly hewn, Dead Silence succeeds of the back of the tremendous momentum of the opening scene, and Hammer-inspired atmosphere packing every nook and cranny. There is a fine balance plenty of dark humor that doesn’t throw the whole tone off (that must be the Leigh Whannell in it) and is too much fun to worry about a handful of clunky shots.
